Quark is high in protein, so this dip combined with vegetables makes a great, healthy and filling snack. You’ll also often find these sort of dips with vegetable sticks at private parties in Switzerland, along with crisps (chips) and the other usual suspects – it makes a nice change from all the other fatty treats. Or, serve it to your kids with a plate of pasta and there you have an easy, balanced dinner with carbs, vegetables and protein!
Recipe
- 250g Halbfettquark (half-fat quark) or Rahmquark (full-fat quark)
- Aromat and Maggi (or Worcester sauce and salt instead)
- Pepper
- Paprika
- Fresh parsley and/or chives
- Raw vegetables such as: carrots, Kohlrabi, cucumber, radishes, celery sticks, peppers, cherry tomatoes
Method
Mix the quark with the finely chopped herbs, some pepper and some paprika. Then add as much Maggi and Aromat (or salt and Worcester sauce) as you need to make it as salty as you like it.
Wash, peel and cut the vegetables in sticks and enjoy!
Looks yummy. Any tips on seasoning this without using Maggi and Aromat (to avoid MSG)?
Hello, I guess you could just use salt or herbal salt and some more paprika or herbs instead. The herb Lovage is also called Maggikraut in German as it tastes like Maggi. You could try and add some dried Lovage. I haven’t really ever tried a version without Maggi or Aromat as we use both so often. I guess we Swiss are big MSG consumers 🙂
